Surgery update #4

Thomas is still in the OR, and is off of heart-lung bypass.
His blood is thinned out to go on bypass. He has a lot of suture lines and is still "oozy" they are waiting for him to "dry up." They are slowly giving him blood products, etc to accomplish this.

This is definitely a milestone in this procedure, but we are nowhere near being out of the woods. Please keep praying for Thomas. He will be just as fragile over the next 48 hours as he has been in the OR. He will prob be in the OR a few more hours...we aren't sure.

We are waiting in the surgery waiting room, and it is finally quiet in here. It seemed like most families were tailgating instead of going through the scariest day of their lives. Oh well...I am happy for them. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

We love our sweet Thomas and hope he is out of there soon. Everytime someone in scrubs walks in this waiting room my heart drops! Thanks for all of your prayers....they are what has carried us through this so far!!! We are passing the long hours by praying and reading everyones sweet comments on the blog and facebook, emails, and texts. We are so blessed!

“But I said to you, ‘Don’t be shocked or afraid! The LORD your God is going ahead of you. He will fight for you! (Deuteronomy 1:29, 30 NLT)

  1. Thank God! Continuing to pray. Big hugs.

  4. Dr. Behm,

Your family has been lifted up in prayer all night and all day by the Smith family (Madelynn Smith..a patient). We will continue to pray for this road that you are going down. Your strength in the Lord during such a scary time is truly amazing. Blessings from Savannah!

  8. Sounds like a small milestone is overcome. I know that you are relieved that his tiny body is off bypass. Praying that he "dries up" soon & is rolled on out of the OR so that you can can a glimpse at least. Hope you get to sit by his side & pray over him tonight, & I hope this will give you a sense of peace so you guys can rest a little tonight. Little man needs you & daddy to have your strength too :)
    Much love & prayers~~~Stephanie

  9. Many prayers for your Thomas. Many of us know what it is like to have a sick baby. Just remember that not only is the Lord on your side, but so are all of us who can empathize with your current state of being. From one Mama to another, I love you and your Thomas.

  10. Melissa & TJ,
So thankful for your updates. We have been praying throughout the day and will continue to do so. Happy to hear Thomas is doing as well as could be expected. I have been praying for the surgery to be the best one the Dr.s have ever done and for God to be glorified through Thomas' trial (and yours). I can only try to imagine what you guys are going through right now. We love you loads.

    Dear sweet Thomas -
Know that you are being held by the greatest physician there ever was, God. He loves you more than any of us could imagine. Your mommy and daddy are just crazy in love with you. God has blessed you with amazing people to call your parents. Much love.

  11. So glad to read the updates, sounds like he is fighting like I knew he would! I have thought of all of you ALL DAY LONG and will continue to say prayers throughout the night and the next few days (and of course, throughout Thomas' journey). My heart is with you, TJ, and Thomas. Praying, Praying, PRAYING!!

  12. What an amazing blessing even this milestone is. God is holding Thomas in his hands and His plan is at work. He is already changing so many lives. What a miracle he is and a privilege it is to you both that God chose you to be his parents. Love to you all and I will keep on praying!

  13. Melissa and TJ,
We have been lifting you both up in prayer as well as Thomas throughout the day. I pray that God would give you PEACE. I can imagine with a medical background it's difficult for you to rest. I pray that Thomas would be a miracle to the doctors and nurses taking care of him and heal quickly, safely, and without complications. Thank you for keeping all of us in Savannah updated.

  14. I just saw this news for the first time today. I didn't even know you had already had your sweet Thomas. The Huxford family is all together and everyone will be PRAYING for y'all! -Lindsay

  15. I was thinking earlier about how loud and obnoxious the people were in the waiting room during Milo's operation... actually was probably a good thing since it gave us something else to think about for a little bit.

  16. I have known for many years just how strong your faith is, and it will see you all through. I have prayed for little Thomas and his family all day long, and I will continue to ask God to bless you all with a great outcome.

May God grant you the strength you need to get through each day & grant you rest when you are able to rest. May he grant comfort & healing to Thomas & also guide his doctors each day. God Bless all 3 of you! Many positive thoughts & prayers lifting you up from Savannah!
