He's Here!

We welcomed Thomas Allen Behm at 7:51pm!
He weighed 4lbs 13oz and was 18.5in long.
He is in the NICU, is breathing on his own, and is getting the prostaglandin medication that will keep him stable until surgery.
Labor was not progressing, so they ended up taking me to c-section.
We are so excited that he is here! I got to see him briefly in the OR, and hopefully will get to go to the NICU sometime during the night to see him.
I don't know how to get pictures from the camera to the iPad, so will post some as soon as I can :)
Keep praying! Our sweet boy has a long road ahead of him!

  4. So happy to hear the good news of Thomas' arrival! God has blessed him with incredible parents, who He has uniquely equipped for loving their precious son. We know that God has been holding you all in the palm of His hand, and had "good and perfect plans" for Thomas!

  6. So glad he's here...and breathing on his own! Both of our girls weighed 4lbs 13oz @ birth. Can't wait to see pics of his precious little self! Hope you get some rest tonight (around hopefully getting to see him). God is good and I'm trusting that He is going to shine through Thomas' healing!

  16. Wow, so glad he's here & breathing on his own. I know this is a small step in his long journey, but as a mother I know this gave you at least a moment of relief & a second to take a deep breath before having to move on to whats ahead. I had a NICU nurse tell me this when my 32 wk premie was not doing well & being transferred to another hospital: she said "remember God made YOU the perfect incubator for THIS child, THIS child could have never survived a day without YOU, and now God will give YOUR strength to THIS child and HIS wisdom to us to take the best care of him we possibly can." Not sure why, but even though I knew this, as I know you do, It gave me comfort to hear it. Hope the sun is warming your hospital window this morning & praying for you all.

  21. Melissa! Congratulations! I am so glad Thomas is here and doing well. I have been praying for him and the journey ahead. I wanted to let you know that I used to work at Egleston as an anesthetist for 6 years. I left 2 years ago and I am now at Memorial in Savannah. Needless to say, the pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists there are absolutely amazing..as is the staff as well as (of course) surgeons. I can't speak more highly of them. Egleston is a wonderful place. I know Thomas will be in great hands during his journey with them. I happened to be working with Dr Mazo today and had him call Faye Evans (his sister) to let her know to keep an eye out for Thomas's arrival to Egleston. She is a pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist there and will be ready for your little man! Please rest assured that he will be well taken care of. Congratulations, Melissa! I am so happy for you and your bundle of joy. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers always!
